The Açaí (Euterpe oleracea Martius) is an existing fruit in the rainforest Amazon (Brazil), known for its powerful antioxidant capacity.
Açaí pulp is nutritionally constituted by a high lipid content (oleic acid and omega 6 and 9 fatty acids), carbohydrates, fibers, vitamins and minerals. Besides these components it also has an antioxidant content (namely anthocyanin), substantially higher than other berries.
Some studies have shown that this berry has benefits in reducing oxidative stress, vasodilatory, anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects (inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells and increasing cellular apoptosis).
